The basics of Pool go back decades. They just have not changed. First, remember it's a mental game! You have to be mentally focused to be at your best on the table. Preparing yourself mentally before each turn is key. Regardless of how much noise and clatter is going on around you at the time where you play, you need to focus only on your next shot. This has been found to be critical to even good pool play.
Attention to the fine details such as ball placement, angle of attack and where your cueball ends up are items that need consideration befor each shot.
Main elements to consider prior to each shot include:
* Ball Placement On The Table
* Calculating A Good Angle Of Attack
* Where You'll Leave The Cue Ball Afterwards

Remember, each shot is a total act. Move on mentally afterwards...whether it was good or bad. This way you'll be able to "break with the past shot" and move on to get mentally ready for the next. Don't get caught up in worrying about a "bad" shot. It's over and can't be done over anyway.
So get your head in the game first, the rest of your body (and your game) will follow.
